Be sure to watch this alone. Before you begin close the door, turn off your phone, ensure that you will not be disturbed for the next 28 minutes. As you sit back down, bring your full-presence into this moment here and now with a couple of long deep abdominal breaths. This is a beautiful creation (click on lower right side of videos to enlarge the screen to fullview). One of the most valuable lessons in life is to comprehend the significant meaning, purpose, and inter-woven association of the chakra system and how “chakras” of “fields” govern the human organism. We are made of energy and surrounded with an egg shaped energy field, called the aura, and it has layers like an onion. Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel, or disk, and also known as an energy center. A chakra is a wheel of spinning vortex that takes in bio-energy, processes it, and spins it out. Chakras are like step-down transformers of energy within of the subtle bodies of our aura or electro-magnetic field. In the general holistic view, the human energy filed has 4 non-physical subtle bodies which are superimposed on the dense physical body. In descending order of vibration, these are the spiritual, mental, emotional and etheric bodies.

Note:  some traditions such as in Chinese medicine, they count 5 chakras and auric fields, while in Kundalini Yoga there are 10 layers to the auric field (chakras), and in other esoteric mystical Orders’ they count 12 chakras or more.

The chakras are gateways of consciousness between these subtle bodies, which transmit energy to the physical body. Holistic health professionals have estimated that there are well over 350 chakras in the body along the meridian pathways, often located at the joints. To keep things simple I will address the 7 major chakras and add a brief overview of the Kundalini Yoga 10 chakra system. Life force moves up and down through the energy centres along the pathway of the “nadis,” or energy meridians on the thoroughfare spin. The chakras open from both the front and back of the body, with the exception of the base/root and crown chakras which connect us to the earth and the universal energies respectively. Each chakra corresponds to a set of organs and closely connects with the glands of the endocrine system. To those who can see the energy of the subtle bodies, each of the 7 chakras corresponds to the 7 colors of the spectrum and resonates with the seven notes of the musical scale. Important psycho-spiritual issues are associated with each center.

The base or root chakra: is located at the base of the spine. This energy center is red and resonates to the musical note C. Some experts say that the corresponding gland is the adrenals, while others argue that it’s the gonads. When this chakra is balanced we feel connected to the earth and physically grounded. Our physical energy is good and issues around survival have been resolved. The sacral chakra: is located at the genitals. It’s the color orange and its musical note is D. The gland for this energy center is the gonads affect reproduction, sexuality and emotional ties. Solar plexus chakra: situated at the solar plexus, the 3rd chakra is yellow, resonates to the note E and is associated with the adrenals. The solar plexus chakra is the center of our personal power. It also acts as a clearing house for incoming and outgoing vibrations and feelings. The bridge merging the upper three chakras with the lower three is the Heart chakra. Right in the middle, located in the heart area, it is green, resonates to the note F, and corresponds to the thymus (and the 528hz, the Love frequency).

This is the centre of spiritual love – love of self and love for others. Being in the middle, it acts as a point of balance between the lower physical chakras and the upper spiritual ones. Throat chakra: the throat chakra, located in the throat area, is blue, resonates to the note G and is associated with the thyroid. The functions of this chakra are associated with self-expression, communication and creativity. Third eye: the brow chakra, known as the third-eye, is located at a point between and slightly above the eyebrows. This chakra is indigo, resonates with the note A and corresponds to the pituitary gland. Intuition, clairvoyance and clarity of vision about one’s purpose in life are the concerns of this energy centre. Crown chakra: finally, located at the top and centre of the head, the crown chakra is violet, harmonizes with the note B and corresponds to the pineal gland. This serves our main connection to the universe. Through its energy, we connect to or higher self and grow spiritually.

There are many ways to awaken and balance the chakras; various forms of meditative breathing exercises, and there are various ways to meditate with rhythm and sound, Kundalini Yoga, Tantric Kriya Yoga, ecstatic movement, trance dance, color, focused heart-felt intent, affirmations, therapy, and reprogramming are all good tools.
